UPDATE 8/26: Yucaipa City Council votes 4-1 to delay discussion on a warehouse project off Live Oak Canyon Road to September 23, citing input from local property owners. Several members of the public made comments at the end of the meeting urging the City Council to deny the project. YUCAIPA, Calif. – Yucaipa City Council will consider a massive 2 million square foot warehouse development in Live Oak Canyon, just east of Redlands, on Monday, Aug. 26.

The development proposal is part of a larger Freeway Corridor Specific Plan (FCSP) update. The FCSP, approved in 2008, encompasses 1,242 acres off I-10. Current land use in the area consists primarily of agricultural land, a wastewater treatment plant, and some residences, according to the staff report.

Pacific Industrial is proposing a 2,054,000-square-foot warehouse logistics center east of Live Oak Canyon Road and south of I-10. The Pacific Oaks Commerce Center Project includes two warehouse logistics buildings, each with around 1 million square feet of warehouse space and 20,000 square feet of office space.

The development would accommodate about 1,058 truck parking stalls and 986 car parking spaces on-site, according to development plans.

The development would be accessed through Live Oak Canyon Road.

Developers are proposing a "craftsman-inspired architectural style" alongside the concrete tilt-up building.

Yucaipa City Council members are faced with a decision to either support or reject the FCSP update and the warehouse project.

The Planning Commission previously reviewed the plan but did not offer a recommendation for approval, according to the staff report. During a July 17 meeting, the Planning Commission could not reach a majority to support recommending the development.

If approved, the council would certify the Final Subsequent Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) and accept its mitigation measures, which include regulations for Oak Tree removal, limits on truck stalling, and electric vehicle infrastructure.

Also before the City Council is an ordinance amending the city's official land use plan and zoning ordinance and approving the Conditional Use Permit for the project.

Those interested in making a public comment on issues before the Yucaipa City Council can submit comments before the meeting by emailing publiccomment@yucaipa.gov or during the meeting at city hall (34272 Yucaipa Blvd.).
