REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands will honor Veterans Day with a series of events this weekend, culminating in a parade and observance on Monday, Nov. 11. Residents are invited to join in these gatherings to pay tribute to those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The main Veterans Day celebration begins with a parade starting at 9 a.m. Monday at Redlands High School (840 E. Citrus Ave.) and ending at Jennie Davis Park (923 W. Redlands Blvd.).
Hosted by American Legion Posts 106 and 650, the celebration will continue at the park with an observance ceremony beginning at 10:45 a.m. Community members are encouraged to gather and show their support for veterans from all branches of service.
In addition, A.K. Smiley Public Library will offer a historical Veterans Day presentation on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m.
Library Director Don McCue will lead the discussion, titled “Over There: Redlands Men in France,” focusing on the Redlands servicemen who fought in World War I. The presentation will explore their involvement in significant 1918 battles such as Cantigny, Belleau Wood, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne, where 40 local men made the ultimate sacrifice.
The library event will take place in the Assembly Room and will also be available on Zoom for those who wish to join remotely.
