Here’s a preview of public meetings and agenda items to watch for over the next two weeks. This resource reflects our dedication to equipping Redlanders with the information they need to speak out on the issues that matter most.

City Council

Redlands City Council will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 5:00 p.m. (closed session) and 6:00 p.m. (public meeting) at 35 Cajon St.

Public comments can be made in person or via Zoom at the link in the agenda.

Newly elected and re-elected council members, city treasurer, and city clerk will be given the oath of office at the state of Tuesday's meeting.

Items of note on the agenda include:

  • Discussion and possible action on reversing the mayoral selection policy less than two years after establishing a seniority-based rotation system. Read more here. (Item H3)
  • Consider a four-month lease agreement with the Redlands Historical Museum Association for the Museum of Redlands property while awaiting property transfer. (Item L1)
  • Consider a $1.36 million contract with Tilden-Coil Constructors for Master Construction Management Services for the new City Hall at 300 E. State Street. This approach involves hiring subcontractors directly and is expected to reduce costs and improve project oversight. (Item L2)
  • Consider a one-year contract with TK Security, Inc., for unarmed, on-site security at the Step-Up In Redlands Project Home Key facility, with a cost of $196,560 for the initial term and options to extend for two additional years, totaling up to $589,680. The facility houses 120 formerly unhoused residents and provides supportive services. (Item L3)
  • Accept a $5.3 million Encampment Resolution Fund grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Funds will cover services like outreach, rapid rehousing and shelter, while also supporting seven positions in the city's Homeless Solutions Division. (Item L4)
  • Accept the proposed project list for the 2025-2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The City is set to receive an estimated $311,347. The largest project is the Sylvan Park restroom replacement and ADA improvements. (Item L5)
  • Consider a Measure U exception for a proposed mixed-use development near the Downtown Redlands Metrolink station. The high-density development includes 85 apartments and 7,686 square feet of commercial space. The Planning Commission unanimously recommended this exemption. (Item L6)
  • Consideration of a $12,058,362.99 construction contract with MCC Pipeline, Inc. for construction of the 2023 CIP Water Pipeline and Highline Replacement Project, Project No. 501063, approval of an additional appropriation in the amount of $3,058,363. (Item L8)

Holiday Closures

Most Redlands City Hall administrative offices will be closed beginning Monday, Dec. 23, through Friday, Jan. 3.

Essential city services, including public safety, code enforcement, water and wastewater utility services and solid waste collection, will be in full operation.

Police and Fire operations will be available as usual.
