REDLANDS, Calif. – Redlands Conservancy is calling on trail users to help combat invasive weeds at local nature preserves and parks. The organization urges volunteers to assist in removing problematic plants like stinkwort, Russian thistle, and puncture vine from popular hiking areas.

Why it matters: The weed is highly invasive and left unchecked, it can monopolize a site and successfully out-compete native vegetation. Loss of native vegetation means loss of habitat for native wildlife which do not adapt to invasive
plants.
