The local grocery chain teamed up with Kellanova to support youth literacy and nutrition programs.
REDLANDS, Calif. — Micah House, an afterschool program serving at-risk youth in North Redlands, received a $30,000 donation from Stater Bros. Charities and its Kellanova partners on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Why it matters: The funds, raised through a collaborative effort with Kellanova and WK Kellogg Co., will support the organization's literacy and nutrition programs.
Details: The donation is the result of a week-long campaign that took place in August, where 25 cents from every Kellogg's item purchased at Stater Bros. stores was set aside for Micah House.
On September 27, representatives from Stater Bros., Kellanova, and WK Kellogg visited Micah House to present the donation and interact with students. Pete Van Helden, CEO of Stater Bros., addressed the teens, encouraging them to be punctual and have integrity, two qualities that will help lead to success in all areas of life.
During the visit, Micah House students had the opportunity to give tours to their guests and engage in conversations. The event included snacks and time for the students to ask questions of the visiting executives and store managers.
What they’re saying: "Micah House is thankful for all the ways Stater Bros. Charities and their partners invest in the community of Redlands," the organization said in a press release.
