Community Forward Redlands' approach to journalism
To our readers and members of the community,
Sunday morning, Mayor Tejeda shared a social media post attacking our reputation and journalistic integrity. We pride ourselves as a reporting-first news organization that shares information that empowers a more engaged community. As we have expanded, we have also welcomed op-eds from engaged members of our community. It is not our goal nor do we expect the news and information we share to align with every individual's or at times even our own personal views.
We ultimately believe that our approach to informing is a service to our community and a means to sustaining a reputable small business.
To provide full transparency regarding the situation with Mayor Tejeda and inform our readers, we are sharing our correspondence with the mayor and his social media posts.
Thank you for your readership and support.
Hello Mayor Tejeda,
Community Forward Redlands has always been and continues to be a reporting-first news organization. Our goal has been to inform readers to empower engagement in our community across various areas.
If there is a story you believe we have not reported factually, please provide your feedback, and we will be happy to review and correct any factual inaccuracies.
Separate from reporting-first news, we have provided a space for community opinions. If you feel that there are impactful opinions from engaged and interested members in our community that are not being shared, we welcome you or others to contribute an op-ed for consideration.
We pride ourselves in what we have built and our approach to reporting news and sharing community voices. We do not expect the news or opinions shared by others to align with every individual's agenda or views. We do not expect it to always align with our personal views. But we do hope that through sharing information, we can have a stronger and more engaged community.
We did see your public post claiming our news is a "bait and switch." To protect our reputation and our growing business, we will be sharing this correspondence publicly. True to our approach, we will focus on reporting the facts and allow residents to make their own opinions.
We do think there are better ways to engage in this dialogue. This situation is not good or necessary for anyone. Feel free to reach out individually.
Best,
Stephanie Hastings Miranda
