Stocked with talented returnees, bolstered by transfers, and fresh off an impressive finish (second place) at the Queens Court Tournament gold division in Irvine, Redlands High is the favorite to win the Citrus Belt League volleyball title for the third consecutive year.
Yucaipa is also formidable, though, and could de-throne the Terriers.
Redlands is not obsessing about it.
“You can get caught up in winning so much that you don’t have fun, so we want to make sure the team has fun, especially with the new girls that we have,” outside hitter Saniyah Sobers said at last month’s Terrier media day.
Said returnee Chloe Coffin, “I think we can do it because we have a lot of players coming back, but we also have some great additions.”
Redlands is looking forward to a trip to Hawaii to play in a tournament over Labor Day weekend.
“It’ll be fun and challenging for sure – but mainly just good for the girls to get to travel,” Terriers coach Corinne Flowers said. “We’re going to show up and play some volleyball and then look at the beautiful scenery.”
