AAUW and University of Redlands to host free Q&A event on Oct. 10, giving voters chance to evaluate candidates on current issues.
Redlands residents can hear from City Council candidates at an upcoming public forum. The event takes place Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in the University of Redlands Casa Loma Room.
The Redlands chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is hosting the forum, working with the University of Redlands Public Policy Program. It's free to attend and you don't need to make a reservation.
All five candidates running for the two open council seats in the Nov. 5 election have been asked to join.
"This forum is presented as a public service to the Redlands community to enable interested voters to evaluate the candidates on a level playing field," said Ellen Timothy, Redlands AAUW member, in a press release.
The forum will use a Q&A format rather than a debate style. Three moderators will ask questions about current Redlands issues, giving each candidate a chance to respond to the same questions.
After the moderators finish, audience members can write their own questions on cards provided at the event. These may be asked to the candidates if there's enough time.
AAUW wants to make it clear they're nonpartisan. They don't endorse or give money to any candidates.
