Residents encouraged to safely dispose of unused medications at Gonzales Center
REDLANDS, Calif. — The City of Redlands and Redlands Police Department, in partnership with the Institute for Public Strategies and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will host a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event on Saturday, April 26.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., community members can anonymously drop off unwanted or unused medications at the Gonzales Community Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave. The event provides a safe, no-questions-asked disposal method for prescription drugs, helping to prevent misuse and environmental contamination.
The event is approved by the DEA and the County of San Bernardino and will be monitored in collaboration with Redlands police. Organizers say removing unused pain medications, amphetamines, or barbiturates from homes helps keep potentially dangerous substances out of the wrong hands and protects water and waste systems from contamination.
