REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Planning Commission will hold a public study session Tuesday, April 22, to review and discuss an update to the city’s Climate Action Plan, which outlines strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through 2035.

The session is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 35 Cajon St. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide input, according to a news release from the city April 18.

City staff will present findings from a community survey and public workshops conducted in October 2024, as well as seek commission feedback on preferred greenhouse gas reduction strategies.

The goal of the update is to align with California’s evolving climate mandates while streamlining environmental review for future development projects under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

The city’s current Climate Action Plan, adopted in 2017 alongside the Redlands 2035 General Plan, serves as a Qualified Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategy. It outlines a framework for lowering emissions from transportation, energy use, and other key sectors in support of state goals.

An updated draft of the Climate Action Plan is expected in the coming months.

More information, including the current Climate Action Plan and staff reports, is available at www.cityofredlands.org and on the City’s official Facebook page.
