REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Police Department will host two free community events this upcoming Saturday, Oct. 7, including the third annual “Coptober Community Fair” at 10 a.m. and “Tailgate with a Cop,” which will begin at 4:30 p.m., preceding a University of Redlands football game.

These events provide a space where residents and officers can build
connections and get to know each other.

Building relationships: Over the past few years, the Redlands Police Department has emphasized developing relationships with the community. The goal of “Coptober” is to bring Redlands together through fun activities and encourage residents to connect and interact with the local police department.

Details: The third annual community fair is free to attend and will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Redlands Ranch Market parking lot.

Forensic demonstrations, police K-9 dogs, SWAT vehicles, motorcycles, free books, and more will be featured at the fair. There will also be free food, music, community organization booths, and activities for kids.

Tailgate with a Cop: If interested in attending a later event, the police department, in partnership with the University of Redlands, is also hosting “Tailgate with a Cop,” which will be at 4:30 p.m. before "Take a Kid to the Game Night" at Ted Runner Stadium.

Details: The Police Department will cook hot dogs and hamburgers before the 7 p.m. game, where the Redlands Bulldogs will face off against the Pomona Pitzer Sagehens. All food is free, and kids 18 years old and under and any adult who brings a child to the event will receive free admission to the game.

The tailgate party includes multiple youth-related activities, including a SWAT obstacle course and a dunk tank where kids can try to dunk their principals and teachers.

Enter to win a pizza party: There will also be an opportunity drawing at halftime for the chance to win a $200 team pizza party.

Teams, groups, clubs, or any assortment of eight youths and one adult chaperone who are interested in the drawing can pre-register by visiting the tailgate’s Eventbrite.

Registered teams will check in on the event day and are encouraged to wear jerseys or unique shirts to show team spirit.
