REDLANDS, Calif. — The results of the 2024 election are in. Here in Redlands, there will be some new faces along with the familiar.
Funding disparities among candidates were stark across both city council and school board races. In most cases, the candidates who raised more funds emerged victorious, highlighting the role of campaign financing in local elections.
While the counting of military and provisional ballots continues, the election will not be certified until early next month. Here is a breakdown of the unofficial election results.

🍊 Openings on city boards and commissions: If the local election has inspired you to get more involved, there are five open positions on city boards and commissions. These positions are appointed by the City Council and make recommendations on local policy and planning. The Planning Commission, Traffic and Parking Commission, Library Board, Cultural Arts Commission and Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission are seeking applicants. Read more here.

Lisa Topoleski and Trisha Fitzgerald will be running and walking off their Thanksgiving feasts a few hours before the big turkey day, along with more than 3,000 people, during the 11th annual Turkey Trot in Redlands on Nov. 28.
It is a holiday tradition that provides food for those in need. Canned food donations will be accepted at the event near the University of Redlands football stadium.
The start and finish lines will be near Brockton Avenue and University Street.
Proceeds from the Redlands Educational Partnership’s Turkey Trot benefit grants for teachers and principals programs in the Redlands Unified School District.
In 2024, more than $125,000 will be awarded in grants. REP has provided programs and projects to Redlands schools since 1987.

YUCAIPA, Calif. – Frank Rodriguez cruised into the finish, raised his arms in glory, and then dropped to his knees. He made the Sign of the Cross (a Catholic show of face) before rising and accepting the congratulations of well-wishers.
The Redlands East Valley High star finished first at the Citrus Belt League No. 3 meet at Yucaipa Regional Park, crossing the finish line in 15:18.1. Beaumont’s Baraa Abufarha was second in 15:20.9 for winning Beaumont. Yucaipa’s Aidan Joyce (15:26.4) was third for second-place Yucaipa. REV finished third as a team.

🇺🇸 Veterans Day in Redlands: Redlands will honor Veterans Day with a series of events this weekend, culminating in a parade and observance on Monday, Nov. 11. Residents are invited to join in these gatherings to pay tribute to those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. More details here.

The Redlands Chamber of Commerce Leadership Redlands class of 2023 gathered with Redlands Unified teachers and staff and the community to celebrate a successful community project that led to dozens of new trees outside Lugonia Elementary.
