City Council Recap: March 4, 2025
REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands City Council approved funding for the upcoming Redlands Bicycle Classic, citywide pavement repairs, and a new recycled water pipeline during its March 4 meeting.
The meeting began with Franklin Elementary School’s Expanded Learning Opportunity Program students leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The council then issued two proclamations: one recognizing March as Women’s History Month, honoring Kim Turley of the Blessing Center and another acknowledging March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, accepted by Joe Clarkson.
Redlands Bicycle Classic Committee member Scott Welsh provided a presentation on the 40th annual race, set for April 9-13. Shortly after, the council approved $127,708.78 in city resources and in-kind support for the event. (Read more here)
Council members also approved $7,944 in city resources and temporary street closures for the Downtown Redlands Artwalk, scheduled for March 30. The event, hosted by the Kid Cures Foundation, will feature local artists and vendors.
In other business, the council denied an appeal seeking to rescind approval of a Reasonable Accommodation allowing a resident to keep a single chicken as an emotional support animal at her home on South 4th Street. (Read more here)
The council authorized a $629,664 contract with Q&E Pipeline Company to extend a recycled water pipeline from Lugonia Avenue south to irrigate city-owned citrus groves between Interstate 10 and the Arrow Rail tracks. Additionally, a $699,000 contract with Onyx Paving Company, Inc. was approved for pavement repairs across the city.
Mayor Mario Saucedo announced the 16th Annual Community Day of Service, scheduled for March 15, encouraging residents to participate in local volunteer efforts. (Read more here)
Commissioner Brian Ball, representing the Cultural Arts Commission, delivered the commission’s annual report, highlighting ongoing projects and initiatives supporting the arts in Redlands.
The Municipal Utilities and Public Works Commission presented its annual report, outlining key infrastructure projects and service improvements managed by the city’s utility and public works departments.
