The updated draft narrows earlier language and permits college, cultural, and military flags in classrooms—but would still restrict flags like the rainbow pride flag from being flown on school flagpoles or displayed without specific instructional context.

REDLANDS, Calif. — About 200 demonstrators gathered Saturday at the intersection of Orange Street and Redlands Boulevard, joining cities across the country in a coordinated protest against former President Donald Trump.
Organized locally by the Redlands Area Democrats, the event was part of a national “Day of Action” calling for the defense of democracy, the Constitution and the rule of law. Protesters held signs and chanted during the two-hour demonstration, which took place at what organizers dubbed the “Peace Corner.”

“Please bring your signs, your voices, and your energy!” the group wrote in a call-to-action on social media. “Let’s add Redlands to the places across our nation where collectively millions of Americans are gathering to stand up for democracy.”
The protest was one of hundreds coordinated by grassroots organizations including Indivisible and 50501, which promoted the theme “No Kings” to oppose what they described as authoritarian threats to American democracy.
Attendees waved flags, displayed hand-painted posters, and lined the busy street corner during the peaceful rally from 4 to 6 p.m.
Photos from the event, captured by freelance photographer John Murphy, showed a broad cross-section of the community, from longtime activists to families with young children.

Similar protests were held in cities across the U.S. over the weekend, drawing attention to Trump’s legal challenges and political rhetoric as he campaigns to return to the White House in 2024.
No major incidents were reported by police during the Redlands gathering.
