Postcard from Texas

ALLEN, Texas – Greetings from the Quality Inn in North Texas where there are Texas-shaped waffles for breakfast and free-flowing coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day. My kind of place.

We are here to visit my girlfriend’s daughter, a Redlands High grad. She had a daughter six months ago.

I was also going to watch the high school football game between the Allen Eagles and the Prosper Eagles. Eagles is evidently a popular mascot in the Lone Star State. Allen won 22-7 to improve to 8-0. However, I missed the game due to a medical emergency on the flight to Dallas.

I didn’t die, so that’s good. Thanks to Santa Monica firefighter Kevin Carlson for the assistance. He’s a gem.
