REDLANDS, Calif. — Authorities are investigating a shooting near the Redlands Community Center on Wednesday afternoon, leaving one person injured.
Redlands police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of Clay Street at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, according to a press release from Redlands Police spokesperson Carl Baker.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg behind the Community Center, located at 111 W. Lugonia St.
Eyewitnesses recounted that multiple suspects pursued the victim through the center and exited via the gymnasium doors. The perpetrators fired shots at the victim before fleeing the scene, police said.
The wounded individual was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
As a precautionary measure, all activities at the Community Center were canceled for the evening, with the facility temporarily closed. Operations resumed as usual on Thursday morning.
