The city of Redlands is now accepting applications for second round of its Grocery Gift Card Program
REDLANDS, Calif. — The city of Redlands announced that it is accepting applications for the second round of its popular Grocery Gift Card Program.
Why it matters: The program is expected to assist up to 1,400 households struggling from the lingering economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with a monthly $100 grocery store gift card for up to one year.
Details: The Grocery Gift Card Program is one of several initiatives that emerged following The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which was signed into law in 2021. Redlands received over $11 million in ARPA funding, which must be fully expended by Dec. 31, 2026.
After a successful first round of the food assistance program, the Redlands City Council voted to fund a second round last fall.
Moving forward: Eligible household who did not participated in round one are encouraged to apply. First time applicants will be given priority until March, according to a press release from city spokesperson Carl Baker. Beginning in April, all eligible applicants will be considered until Dec. 20.
Grocery gift cards can be used for purchases at Redlands Ranch Market, located at 800 E. Lugonia Avenue.
There are a handful of eligibly requirements including household income, residence and enrollment in other public assistance programs. For more details on eligibility and how to apply, visit the City of Redlands website below.
