Officials warn of health risks as excessive heat combines with elevated ozone levels, urging residents to take precautions

Dangerous heat and poor air quality threaten Redlands, lnland Empire

UPDATE 9/6: Due to temperatures expected in the 100s over the weekend, the city of Redlands is canceling all outdoor recreation activities, including the Saturday Morning Market, pickleball and all recreation field permits from Sept. 6 through Sept. 8.


REDLANDS, Calif. – The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has issued an air quality alert for the Inland Empire due to high levels of ozone pollution. The alert, in effect from Tuesday through Friday, coincides with an excessive heat warning for the region.

Redlands is under an excessive heat warning through Saturday evening with temperatures reaching up to 110 on Thursday and Friday.

Residents, especially those in sensitive groups, are advised to limit outdoor activities and take precautions during this period.
