REDLANDS, Calif. – The Redlands City Council voted 4-1 on Dec. 17 to repeal the rotational model for selecting the mayor, less than two years after its adoption.
Council member Denise Davis cast the lone dissenting vote.
The council reverted to the traditional process of nominating and voting for the mayor from among its members.
Mario Saucedo was elected mayor in a 4-1 vote, while newly elected Marc Shaw was chosen as mayor pro tem.
Under the repealed resolution, Davis was slated to become the next mayor based on seniority and not having yet served as mayor.
