REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands City Council will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 4. There will be a closed session at 5 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. public meeting at the City Council Chambers.
The meeting can be attended in person at the Civic Center at 35 Cajon Street, Redlands or through the Zoom link at the top of the agenda.
Here is a brief overview of some notable agenda items that will be discussed during the meeting.
The City Council will discuss creating an official policy for how the council recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions to the community. Currently, recognition requests are handled informally with groups or Council Members asking the City Manager to add them to the agenda. This item, brought forth by Mayor Mario Saucedo, would discuss a possible formal request process. Read more here.
The Citrus Preservation Commission Chair Michael Day will present the Citrus Preservation Commission annual report.
Chris Sedmack, the Committee Chair for the Street Tree Committee will present the Street Tree annual report.
Redlands City Council will consider approving a contract with Citiguard, Inc. to provide platform and parking lot security for the Redlands Passenger Rail Downtown and University Stations. The agreement covers an initial one-year term for up to $345,448.80, with the option to extend for an additional year which would total up to $690,897.60. Security guards would be on-site daily, from 15 minutes before the first train arrives until 15 minutes after the last train departs. Read more here.
Council will consider approving a $623,911.38 construction contract with Metrocell Construction, Inc. to build new pedestrian and bike trails as part of the Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) Redlands Regional Connector (South) project. The project aims at improving biking and walking paths on Texas Street, Domestic Avenue and Orange Street. A $765,096.58 CRP grant will help fund the project, which is expected to be completed within 50 working days. Read more here.
Council will consider approving a public works construction contract with Tryco General Engineering for the 2024 Citywide Sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Ramp Replacement Project. The project will replace approximately two miles of damaged sidewalks and install 18 ADA-compliant curb ramps at various locations to improve accessibility and safety.
