In a reversal of its 2023 decision, the council returns to the nomination method
An 18-year-old student at Redlands East Valley High School was arrested Tuesday for allegedly passing weapons on campus.
REDLANDS, Calif. — An anonymous tip led to the arrest of an 18-year-old student at Redlands East Valley High School Tuesday morning after authorities discovered weapons, including two replica handguns, in his vehicle on campus.
Christopher Oberhelman, a San Bernardino resident, was taken into custody after a School Resource Officer, identified as Officer B. Fite, responded to a report that Oberhelman had brandished a silver and black revolver in the school parking lot.
During the investigation, a search of Oberhelman’s vehicle uncovered a silver and black .357 revolver replica, a tan and black 1911 Sig Sauer handgun replica and a 10-inch Elk Ridge knife, according to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Both handguns were determined to be air guns.
Oberhelman was arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center on suspicion of possessing a weapon on school grounds.
