Organizers say more than 5,200 signatures were submitted; an earlier petition has already qualified. City must repeal its approvals or call an election after first petition qualified.
REDLANDS, Calif. — Accelerate Neighborhoods Climate Action (ANCA), a local climate action group, announces a series of fall events to address the climate crisis at the neighborhood level.
The Redlands-based nonprofit is dedicated to educating and empowering neighbors to work together toward local climate resilience and adaptation.
Talking about climate
ANCA is bringing back its speaker series about climate-resilient living: Pathways to a Sustainable Redlands.
The series kicks off with Living Closer, Moving Smarter: A Blueprint for a More Sustainable Future on Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Redlands Community Center.
Speakers include Redlands City Council member Denise Davis and local housing advocate Bobby Garrity, lead of Redlands YIMBY.
The speakers will discuss strategies for reducing emissions through denser housing and increased public transportation.

Reducing waste by fixing broken items is another way ANCA is promoting a more sustainable lifestyle.
ANCA will host a Repair Cafe on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Redlands Community Center.
Local handymen and women who love to fix things will be available to fix your item on the spot, let you know how to fix it, or let you know if it can be fixed.
"By reducing the things we throw away by repairing and reusing them, we extend their life, save money, reduce the resources to produce new products and move toward a waste-free world," according to event organizers.
Some repairable items include lamps, small appliances, toys, jewelry, heirloom treasures, chairs, clothing, bicycles, home décor, picture frames, and walkers.
