AAUW Redlands offers scholarships for women resuming their education

REDLANDS, Calif. — The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Redlands Branch is extending a helping hand to women who have interrupted their college education and are now returning to pursue their degree.

Applications are now being accepted for the Nancy Yowell Memorial Scholarship, designed to support women residing within the Redlands AAUW Branch region as they work towards their educational goals.

The Redlands Branch serves a wide area including Banning, Beaumont, Calimesa, Cherry Valley, Grand Terrace, Highland, Loma Linda, Mentone, Redlands, and Yucaipa. Eligible candidates must demonstrate a clear commitment to their educational pursuits and be currently enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or post-graduate degree program.

Scholarship awards range from $1,000 for students enrolled in an associate’s degree program to $2,000 for those pursuing a bachelor’s or post-graduate program. The funds are intended to assist recipients with registration fees, tuition, and/or books.

The number of scholarships awarded will depend on the available budget and the number of qualified applicants. Recipients will be selected and notified in March 2024 and are encouraged to attend the branch meeting in April or May of the same year.

Funds for the scholarships are raised through special projects sponsored by members of the Scholarship Committee and by donations from the AAUW membership at large.
